SYNOPSIS
Twelve-year-old Charlie, a fearless genius living on her own, is caught by two CIA agents after a wild chase down some ski slopes.
The agents are not after her because she stole money and “disappeared” (and she has a solid excuse for both).
They’re also not especially lenient with her even though one of them is her half-brother.
They need her scary smarts to find a mythical mathematical equation written by Albert Einstein who then hid from the world.
The CIA and some really bad guys are all after it because it can solve global energy problems or … create the most devastating nuclear weapons.
A series of escapades – in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Los Angeles – end with the discovery, and then destruction, of Einstein’s equation.
Unfortunately, there is one place it cannot be erased from – Charlie’s memory. A promising cliffhanger for book 2…!
PERFECT AGE 11- 16
We love
- As with all of Gibbs’ novels, you learn so many fascinating facts about science, history, geography, you name it.
- The suspense builds and builds, and it doesn’t let up!
- You know the story is made up but it’s so well thought out you will keep wondering – could it be real?
- Girl superheroes never had a better role model – Charlie Thorne is life goals!
WATCH OUT FOR (Language, Big / Sensitive Topics, Outdated Concepts):
- Some people get killed – probably unavoidable in this genre and not shocking to this age bracket but just be aware.
CONVERSATION STARTERS
- Why do you think Einstein was keen on hiding the formula if it could be so helpful to humanity?
- Why was Charlie hiding from the government? Was she in the right to steal the forty million? Why?
- Describe Charlie’s personality. What are some traits of hers that you admire?
- What was your favorite part of the chase between Charlie’s team and the Furies? Why?
