The 13-Story Treehouse: Monkey Mayhem!
A moderately (for adults) or outrageously (for kids) entertaining collection of stories about Andy and Terry who live, parent-free, in (you guessed it!) a 13-story treehouse they built themselves. Your kids won’t learn much of value and may get some wild wacky ideas, but if you need them to self-entertain while waiting somewhere for a long time, this will do. I’d think hard before buying the next one, and the next one, and the next one in an ever-expanding series… I did, in fact, and stopped at The 52-Story…”

SYNOPSIS
Andy and Terry live, parent-free, in (you guessed it!) a 13-story treehouse they built themselves. The treehouse is equipped with crazy “technology”, “science labs”, and amusement centers straight out of a child’s runaway imagination. Dramatic, ludicrous events happen at the house – a mermaid-monster seeks to devour Andy; lab-grown monkeys invade; a team of canary-cats comes to the rescue; Superfinger saves guitarist Jimi Handrix (to name a few). We learn all these stories because the two heroes write and illustrate books (like the one we’re reading) for Mr. Big Nose, a mean publisher who harasses them about deadlines on 3D video calls. Of course.

THEMES
- Crazy things happen everywhere all the time?
- Procrastinating with work is sometimes OK?
- Science can go very, very wrong if one is not careful
We love
- Entertaining, attention-grabbing wackiness
- Nothing objectionable, offensive or worrisome (cartoonish “violence” is unlikely to scare young minds)
- But also don’t look for logic, learning or conversation starters!
- Store this book in the “Self-Entertainment for Long Road Trips” category
- Think hard before buying the next (26-Story…, 39-Story…, 52-Story…, etc.) iterations – they only get wackier
